Our mental health advocacy service is well known and respected by local mental health professionals, including clinical psychiatrists, and by mental health service charities.
We are a free professional service for adults who are known and referred to the disability, older peoples and learning disability services.
What is advocacy?
Advocacy is acting or speaking on behalf of someone and representing their views, when due to age, illness or disability they find it difficult to speak themselves.
What support can an advocate give?
- Support to access information
- Support to accompany you to meetings such as Managers Appeals; ward rounds, CPN or doctor’s appointments
- Support through housing difficulties
- Helping with any concerns regarding your care
- Support in divorce proceedings and child protection cases
- Support in legal cases and tribunals
